On Sunday, 7 March, Nordea's Finnish banking services will undergo an extensive service outage that will last almost all day.

The interruption will begin at 1 am on Sunday and is expected to end at approximately 9 pm for cards and around 1 pm for other services.

During the service break, Nordea cards cannot be used to withdraw cash, and Nordea's bank IDs can't be used for electronic identification. Also excluded are online banking and transfers on MobilePay.

It also won't be possible to use Nordea cards to make online purchases. Card payment may be possible at shops and petrol stations on a limited basis but could be slow or unsuccessful.

Nordea urges clients to be prepare for the service disruption by handling banking matters in advance and reserving sufficient cash if necessary. It says the outage is essential for maintenance of its IT systems.

Late last year three people, including a former Nordea employee, were charged with hacking into the bank's computer system in an attempt to steal millions of euros from Nordea employees and customers.
