The service sector union PAM has threatened a broad strike for workers in the cleaning and property services sector that would begin on Thursday.

PAM rejected a Wednesday morning proposal put forth by the National Conciliator's Office in negotiations with employers' organisation, the Finnish Real Estate Federation. Negotiations will continue throughout Wednesday.

If no agreement is reached, the next strike by cleaners and property managers will start at the beginning of Thursday. The two-day strike would involve around 25,000 workers in 16 companies.

Last week, a strike involving 2,500 workers affected the sector.

A third strike has already been announced for next week if a deal cannot be reached.
