На прошлой неделе некто бегал с кипятком от радости, что оправдали чиновников оборонной фирмы Патрия. Дело было о подозрении во взяточничестве при продаже бронетехники в Словению. Но "голубь", принесший благую весть, как обычно опустил подробности:

In Slovenia, the interests of Patria were protected by RHG Riedl, an Austrian consulting firm, which received a share of the sale proceeds. The company employed two proxies in Slovenia who, according to the indictment, were in contact with the country's Ministry of Defence and leading policy-makers. The indictment also made mention of the Slovenian Prime Minister, Janez Janša.
The prosecutors argued that RHG Riedl had been instructed to forward 7.1—8.4 million euros of its fee to one of its proxies, whose task was to promote the interests of Patria by influencing Janša and his advisers.
However, the court ruled that no excessive consulting fees had been incurred as part of the dealings. It also viewed that no evidence has been presented to corroborate the allegations that Patria or its subsidiaries had made payments to Slovenian authorities, military officers, their family members or Janša's party.
In addition, the court viewed that the use of consultants and sub-consultants in the defence equipment sector is standard procedure and, in fact, necessary.

Схематично: на разбирательствах было установлено, что Патрия не платила (ИМХО: НАПРЯМУЮ не платила) премьер-министру Словении, членам семьи и чиновникам. Была нанята австрийская консалтинговая фирма, которой и заплатили. Утверждается, что это - стандартная процедура. Прокуроры утверждали, что австрийская консалтинговая фирма, в свою очередь, была инструктирована передать 7.1—8.4 млн. евро одному из своих посредников (one of its proxies), чтобы те (тот?) продвигал(и) интересы Патрия, влияя на премьер министра и его советников.
